yeh thats not the problem
the problem is that my new dials have a rev counter and my old dials don't but i was wondering if i will have to fit the rev counter wire or is there one already installed inthe car as standard as i heard somewhere that there should already be one there even though the car as standard doesn't have a rev counter

i have seen many mk2's fitted with the mk3 dash,(usually only german cars) it is possible! all i no about the clocks are that 1.0ltre mk3's don't have rev counters and instead have a clock, but other bigger engined mk3's have them, wot i also no is that it is a straight swop and the rev counter will work.
as far as i would think, it would probably be the same prenciple in the mk2! don't take my word for it but i think it would be possible

think before you jump in and do it
i am in the process of doing a mk3 dash in my mk2 coupe you need to make sure you have the wiring loom and fuse board from the mk3 and also the ignition switch from the mk 3 other wise its pointless doing it as i found on atempt 1 all you have to do is remove mk 2 dash wiring loom and fuse board fit the new fuse board swap the ignition switchand route the new wiring loom in and yes if you drop the dash insert with rev counter in a car without it does still work
mk2s have the connection for a rev counter in the multi plug all you have to do is convert the mk2 plug in to a mk3 plug to fit ur mk3 clocks i read somewere that the plugs were differantPhoenix wrote:yeh thats not the problem

the signal for the rev counter is also used for the oil pressure buzzer an warnin light
