Starting Problems

Hi Im new around here and need some help with my motor.

Just got my polo there 3 weeks ago and already having problems. When cold shes deadly to start up. When shes warmish shes 100%. Anyone have any ideas? Was thinkin it could be the temp sensor someone mentioned in the common fault section. Also if u think it is the sensor how much is the part and can I fit it myself?
