Help - Starting problem

Post by Bainy100 »

Hey guys, this is my first post so go easy on me please..

Got myself a little 1.0l polo 6n for my first car, in average condition, so trying to tidy her up a bit.

Firstly i have searched the forums many times and i have found lots of different replies to the problem that i have..

The problem is when i first fire up the car, it will spark, the engine will start, then all of a sudden just cut out.
The rev counter goes up to 1k, then the engine just dies. It is as if the engine is been chocked, as if there is no fuel.
This happens randomly. Some days it happens, other days its fine. Recently in the warm weather its been happening a lot more often through..
Ive read various posts that go from air leaks, dirty fuel line, fuel pump, to putting some carb cleaner in the throttle body.
So far ive got a list of things to do, anything else anyone would say??
- Check all hoses for air leaks
- Carb Cleaner into the throttle body
- Fuel pump/fuel lines

I know of a few people that have had the similar problem, hopefully if anyone has any other ideas or things that i could try i would be very greatefull. Hopefully this post would help everyone else with the same problem aswell....

Oh and sorry about the essay of a post!!
Cheers,
Bainy
