Its by no means perfect but considering its all done by hand im quite pleased with it. Might look into getting some detailing stuff (rotary polisher etc) at a later date, so i can get rid of some light scratches and swirl marks.

Does anyone know how hard this is to do?

cheers

I don't think its too hard physically, just time consuming! But the initial cost of buying all the gear is offputting

my camera doesnt do my cars shine justice.

I always wash with autoglym bodywork shampoo and dry with a chamois.

started with claybar all over, auto glym super resin polish, auto glym extra gloss protection, meguairs deep crystal carnauba wax

god knows how many hours it took altogether, had to do it in stages cos it took so damn long!

was well worth it though

I wash it with Meguiars NXT Generation Shampoo, usually one panel at a time then chamois as I go along to avoid it drying and leaving water marks, then polish with Meguiars Deep Crystal Polish, follwed by Meguiars Tech Wax.

3-4 hours every time 8)

Combination of Megs and Autoglym here: AG Bodywork Shampoo & Conditioner (I use a Megs lambswool wash mitt, not some crappy sponge), a thorough rinse, dry with a Megs water magnet. Polish the bodywork with AG Supreme Polish (Ultra Deep Shine to you lot), polish the glass with AG Glass Polish, Silicone Free Spray for the front splitter.

If I do all that, probably takes in the region of 4-5 hours including cleaning the wheels (AG acid-free cleaner, which isn't on the market yet ;) ) and of course blacking the tyres!

I have an Autoglym hydra blade but wouldn't recommend one, it has scratched my paint several times including a fairly deep one on the bonnet :(

does alot of people use the claybar?? i'm not entirely sure on how to use it! but it says use it whent the car is lubricated. so i use it on all the panels and if some have slightly dried i use the quick detailer to soak it a bit again. but for panels like the roof and bonnet etc where the water lies, should i go over it with the clay bar then gfive it a chamois to get the remaining water off. i'm just worried that if i use the chamois, it may ruin the effects of the claybar.

i'll post up my routine a wee bit later

i'll post up my routine a wee bit later
how to use the claybar:

1) wash and dry the car

2) get the clay and work it in your hands till it has warmed up then mould into a disc-like shape

3) working a small area at a time, spray some quick detailer on the paintwork to provide lubrication

4) run your claybar over the bit you have just lubricated until it passes over the paint smoothly and without stopping, making sure at all times that there is plenty of lubrication and that you frequently remould the clay so you are always using a clean bit.

5)dry off the quick detailer

the purpose of the clay is to get rid of bonded contaminants that make polishing more difficult and may scratch your paintwork so dont worry about ruining ur hard work by drying it off because your paint should still be smooth even after you've dried it off.

sorry about the essay, hope this helps you a bit.

cheers
