All better now!

Post by Jay's MK4, Euro Stylee! »

Hi guys, some of you mite remember that my car was a litlle battered and bruised last time i posted, thanks to a run in with a truck, well i picked up my car from the bodyshop last friday, and she's all better now.

The bodyshop kept her for 5 days whilst they straightened out my mashed quater panel, rubed down n filled my rear bumper, including a whole bunch of cracks on the passenger side corner of it, resprayed the bumper and resprayed the entire quater panel, the paintwork isnt fabulouse, a lil bit orang peely, but i really dont care cuz it looks much better than the fat dent that the truck left, and also im getting my baby fully resprayed towards the end of the year, hopefully!

oh and the cost, £350, i dont think thats a bad price.

So did you have to pay for this or did you get the truck driver to pay?

I had to pay for this out of my own pocket, as when the truck hit me i was a wee bit shocked and very much pissed off and i tottally forgot to take the trucks numberplate, and he didnt stop either, chances are that he may not of even felt the contact which is fair enough, but the fact that he never used his indicaters or his brain to signal that he was gonna cut across two lanes is not fair enough!

oh well, its payed for now and yes it is a quality job, so at least its fixed. seems im a student and only work part time, and i have lots of plans for my motor i really cud of done without it, but thats jus one of the joys of motoring. maybe now i can begin to save for my smoothing and full respray!

I know what you mean about being a student and only working part time, can mean cash flow gets drained easy  How long til you get your smoothing and respray then? You keeping it black?

Yeah i hopefully gettin the bodywork n respray done towards the end of this year, hoping to have a few quid to shell out by then, wen my next installment of student loan comes in, and hopefully iv seved most of the money im gonna earn at work befoe then.

yeah deffo keepin her black, but im thinking about black magic pearl rather than the gloss black thats on her at the mo, i not too sure tho, iv never really had a proper look at any cars in black magic pearl.

iv bin quoted a grand for the respray, n im pretty sure they shud do a good job, a local lad i know had all his bodywork n respraying done there, and the workmanship on his motor is nothing less than impressive, its bin in a few mags n all. he did spend about 20k tho! on a corsa :?

iv no idea how much the actual bodywork aspect is gonna cost, im thinkin along the lines of dehandled (doors and boot), debadged, removal of side repeaters and roof aerial, and also having the rear tow eye recess filled in, cost a fair bit i guess.

Sounds quite alot of work to be done, but it will all come together nicely by the sounds of it. Be sure to post pics before and after. Nice looking car btw.
