Model difference???

Post by jsesbad »

Hi, Everyone,

I am a new comer in this website. I just bought a new Polo in Asia.
After reading the articles. i think my car should be MK7, but it looks that there has another way of model names: 1n, 2n......
So, check again. Mine should be 9n2.
Can anyone tell me what is the difference between these two naming rules??

best regard,
NaughtyCat

welcome to the forum mate!!
if u could get a pic posted then we should definately be able to tell you!

basically in Britain, the brand new polo would be a MK7 and the previous would be the mk6 etc!

6n, 6n2, 9n, 9n2, and 9n3 etc are the numbers given by the Germans and they refer to the middle part of the chassis number on the car!

in Britain:

6n = mk4
6n2 = mk5 (or mk4 facelift)
9n = mk6
9n2 =mk6 saloon (never available in UK)
9n3 =mk7

check the chassis number and see what it says mate!

DanDiesel,

Thank you very much. I am still try to figure out how to post the pic.
BTW, my car is 1.6L 16V with manual transmission.
Checking the pictures on this website. Mine is definitely a MK7, because I do not have 4 headlights of MK6. I only have two in new style on MK7.

In China market, this engine provide 77KW/5600rpm and 15.5N-m/3800rpm.

I forget telling you that mine has 5 doors.
I saw other posted pictures and saying that is 9n2 which is very like mine.
Thus, I thought mine is 9n2.

You can get a 1.6 in the uk now but only in sport trim. It sneaked in after the range was "thinned" out early in 2006.
