mk5 sdi gearbox problem at 40k miles

Hi guys, yet again VW have proved that they are very reliable when it comes to cars

My Mk5 POLO SDI 1.9 is having gearbox problems at 40 thousand miles. Its slipping out of 5th gear and its just happened 10 times on a 90 mile trip on the motorway.
Anyway Im trying to source a recon gearbox for it at a decent price. Does anyone know of any companies that supply them at a gd price?

your best bet is just to use something like find-a-part.com or is it findapart.com. cant remember! anyways, thats the way i got my reconditioned gearbox. its doing me fine so far. touch wood.

still having problems trying to source a gearbox, one company wants 500 quid for a recon gearbox and this is an exchange aswel!!! what has this world come to, my 316i coupe gearbox was only 150 quid and this was not an exchange price.

Anyway who else here has had gearbox problems and what were the symptoms of the problem?

Mine is slipping out of 5th gear, anyone else had that one?
