Wet & Dry Paper
Plastic Primer
Matt or Gloss Black Paint
Lacquer (your choice)
Rub the badge down, the chrome finish is quite strange really so stick with the roughest grade of wet & dry, then a coat of plastic primer, leave it until it's touch dry then give it another coat.
Best to leave it overnight to dry thoroughly
Once it's fully dry, give it a coat of black, leave until it's touch dry and give another coat (repeat until you're happy)
Leave overnight to dry again and that's you done.

recently sprayed my badge gloss black. looked terrible, had roughly 4-5 coats of black and 3 of primer. and it chipped easily. even after letting it dry for a week!
resprayed it now with plastikote (can be tricky to sand off if you make a mistake!) stove paint! gave it 3 coats, applies nice and evenly, very hard wearing AND its good for 400c
so my vw badge will be the last thing to melt if my car sets on fire!
