BMC & MOT

Post by Si_GTi »

I can officially confirm (like a few other members) that the BMC kit, and the filtered oil crankcase breather pipe, will pass an MOT with no trouble whatsoever - took mine to VW today to have the car tested and of course it passed with flying colours

I also passed with a small chip in the windscreen that is just a couple of centimetres below my (the driver's) line of sight, but smaller than a 5p peice in diameter. There are no cracks spidering out from it and it's been there for several months  I just haven't gotten round to getting it fixed!

That is all!

I've been told using the crankcase breather lets fumes into the cabin Si. How did you get the pipe to connect into the BMC?

It doesn't go back into the BMC :) it has a pipercross oil filter on the end of it

That's better, cheers. It looked like it was connecting into the filter in the first pic.

I take it the thing about gases leaking into the cabin because of the breather filter is crap then?

Well, I can't smell anything from the driver's seat when I'm driving. That counts for both short (sub-10 miles or less) and long (50+ miles) journeys :)

You can only smell it when the car is stationary at idle.

On the move you can't smell it. 8)
