V_Power to replace optimax

Post by Prash »

I've known about this for a while now and have noticed no one has said anything about it on here, shell are going to replace their optimax fuel with v-power inline with the rest of europe, and its going to be anywhere from 99 to 102 RON, and is officially lauched tomorrow (Wednesday the 23rd). The optimax pumps have already been providing v-power for a while though apparently to ensure the correct dilution in the tanks. Enjoy it !

There is no performance advantage at all, unless you have custom engine management mapped for it.

You may notice your car runs smoother on it, if anything.

I've been running on Optimax for the last four tanks of fuel, now back on BP Ultimate and can't tell much of a difference :?

My last few tanks of Optimax came in at 109p per litre :)

It went from £1.019 to £1.039 now its 99p again up here for Optimax. I hope they don't charge much for this new stuff. They can't replace something a lot of people use and say "hey we are charging you more"

The fuel has been in mainland europe for a while now. I think it was released there about a year or two ago.

Yes it's better, but unless you have custom mapping for it youll see no difference in power performance.

It's just a big gimmick really for people that "Think" their car will run quicker on it (Because it wont).

Great for highly tuned motors tho.

Phew I'm saved  Went into my local shell this morning - no change at all, then onto the shell uk website and nothing either, I was totally confused !

Seems like some of the stations might be lauching it sooner than others..or maybe they did all the change over at my local station after I checked this morning
