Silicone Vs Furniture Polish

Post by PeteJ »

anybody have any thougts on this?
i've valeted for about 2 years before and in between uni.
silicone kills my lungs, smells weird (even scented) and makes you slip off everything + its an ar*ehole to get off your windows!
furniture polish smells alright, seems to clean muck off the plastics/dash rather than coat it, dries alot les slippery (still slippery) and costs like 37p a can.
i know this might be a bit of a moot point for most of you, but my girlfriend always ask me to clean her car, so today its getting the full monty, interior vac'd + polished inc windows, outside wash, polish, wax, vynl, tyres + engine
lucky lady! fortunately for me, the car is a peugeot 106 so its small and lime green so it cleans up lovely :D

but anyway.. anybody had much bad experience with silicone?

just a bit of a general chat.. meh

If you want to clean the interior plastic without covering it in tacky looking gloop, buy some Armor all interior cleaning wipes (Matt Finish)

Then your interior will look clean, not covered in slimey **** :D

I used a marine silicone spray on some interior parts of my car as was gettin a few squeaks and rattles. Smelt good and worked to a certain extent. Could actually do with doing it again. 8)

tbh i've tried neither and don't plan to - wouldn't be happy if someone valeted my car used either (not that anyone else touches my car)

I use Meguiar's Quik Detailer Interior spray - leaves a clean and factory matte finish.

you shouldnt use a silicone or furniture polish to clean u shud use an interior cleanor first other wise ur just sealing in dirt. i use auto glym interior cleaner good for cloth and dashes. then if u want to finish it use wat u want but the auto glym leaves it as it shud be clean n mat finish. i valet for vauxhall and they like me to use silicone but its the devils work!!! but each to ur own
