Cd changer emulator/aux input or ipod adapter for beta/gamma

Post by NickP »

Hello all, I've got a question about plugging an ipod into my standard vw headunit on my polo Mk5 6n2. I want to plug my ipod into the cd input (obviously i don't have a cd player attached). I've seen this cd player emulator
http://www.conofrei.com/shop/pd-1576296 ... tegoryId=2 but including delivery it works out at 50 euros (about £34) which is a lot just for a cable, i could probably buy a new head unit with an aux in for about £40.

Another product i've seen is an actual ipod apapter https://www.connects2.com/c2search.aspx ... &modID=916 but again these cost a small fortune.

I'm wondering if anyone has found an alternative method of connecting an aux input to their gamma/beta headunit. Also does anyone know of anywhere of getting an apdapter cheaper than £34, there doesn't seem to be any on ebay.

Thanks in advance.
Nick.

alright mate, im trying to do the same thing,

this is what my mate reckons, so he could be lying lol :? i think their already is an aux input (not sure yet) but all u gotta do is get a jack cable which costs a thew quid and just hook it to the pod! apparently, done in my mates car with a aux input on the front and its fine but the only thing u cant do is charge it

or u could go to halfords and buy a kit 4 £150 , but that kit that uve got their is pritty gd i would go 4 that

sorry if thats completly off, of what your trying to do

No i think we're trying to do the same thing. Basically got a phono input into the gamma/beta headunit. Except the only input on there is the cd input. Its not just a matter of plugging wires in because you have to fool the stereo into thinking that there is a cd player/changer there. Thats why you need something like the cd player emulator in the link above. Unless there is another way?
