what amp/sub to get

Post by gti_black »

looking for a decent sub + amp set for my 6n2. has to be a single 12" sub. not really interested in the preamped boxes, rather have a separate amp n sub. looking to spend about £150ish. its not much i know but im just looking for reasonable sound not hardcore stuff. fittings not a problem and already got a good head unit so just after a sub, amp and wiring kit etc.

was thinking of the pioneer 306c with a jbl 75.2 amp, however im open to suggestions

I've just bought this for a mate (well, ordered it for him!)
Sounds fantastic, the box is very well made, and as always, its Blaupunkt so should last a few years of run correctly.

Good value really.

For subs and amps - buy American!

Rockford Fosgate, JBL, Kicker etc.

I use Rockford Fosgate stuff and it is amazing!

hmm price and specs are right but the name blaupunkt just puts me off.

what about the audiobahn AWC12T. anyone got it or heard it in action. i tend to listen to mainly rnb, rap, hip hop, so im after smooth low bass and also subtle mid bass. not too punchy/hard.

Audiobahn isn't very highly rated in the Audio scene tbh mate, the Blaupunkt package looks pretty good and it's on offer.

lemme guess "blaupunkt"

lol. im sure its great but try tellin the ppl who ask what u got in the back? its a blaupunkt. i suppose its do with image as well for me. blaupunkt doesnt have quite the same ring as pioneer, kicker, etc. although the bp's probably a lot better.

also the box provided has a volume of 44 litres. thats one big box. getting that in the boot may be a problem. even a 35ltr box is verytight/exact fit. (sideways)

1 10" Punch RFP3410 sub and a RF2.9x amp. The amp is old skool Rockford.

For what i've got it packs one hell of a punch!

P.S. Audiobahn stuff ain't brilliant but i'd still rate it over Blaupunkt. The Audiobahn gear is a bit bling and the older stuff is better.

forgot to mention a few things in my first post so just quickly gonna add some points.

- looking for a 12"sub + amp
- box used will be sealed and put on one side of the boot (facing sideways) to save space
- play rnb rap hip hop so need a sub with nice low bass but also decent midbass (hate punchy/hard bass)
- looking to spend about £150ish although i can stretch it to £180-190 only if im getting a real bargain at that price. other wise £150

strict requirements i know but hopefully u guys can help me out.

but the problem with 10's is the bass is hard. ideally id love a 15 but its a no-no with the size of the boot. hence the reason im going for 12". wot kinda bass u getting. smooth?? or hard/thumpy

So what are you rating it on?
I've installed both (not on my car I may add ;) ) and Blaupunkt gear has always felt alot more solid.
I know of no one who has used Blaupunkt sensibly who has had any problems with anything other than the head units.

If Audiobahn didn't try to advertise them selfs as a top market manufacturer it wouldn't be so bad.
IMO its budget gear for mid range money.

Well depends on what sort of bass u want. With the 12" i find it's not quite as punchy as a 10" but will drop lower.

The 10" may not drop quite as low but it ain't bad and it's punchier than the 12" especially in a sealed box, which is what i like.

It all comes down to personal preference. 8)
