So just got my new grill and clear front indicators...

Front grill tidied it up really nicely, and the front inidicators look great compared to the orange ones, problem is...

I had no idea the stock bulbs were clear! Can't go running around with clear flashing indicators! that really pissed me off.

Looks like i'll have to pay my local maplin or halfords a visit

Just a heads up to anyone who is thinking about ordering some new clear side indicators, buy the bulbs first!

Also just incase your wondering your side repeaters are going to be white bulbs as well. I still using white's in mine and never got stoped. I think white looks better anyway.

Ok so i got my bulbs today, another problem has just cropped up tho,

The following is a quick diagram of my problem:

As you can see my old bulb has parallel fittings on both sides of it (hence the black dots in case you were wondering lol)

Now with the new bulb, they are offset slightly, i tried both halfords and maplin for an amber bulb with parallel fittings, but with no luck at all,had to settle for ambers with offset fittings, only a couple of Â£.

However when i recieved my clear front indicators, i got a new bulb mount that worked perfectly with the new offset bulbs i bought. Trouble is the bulb mount is a totally different shape to the connecting block on my polo.

The one on the polo already has rounded edges (top), whereas the new block is rectanglular in shape(bottom)...no way of connecting

Hopefully i can cut off the old connecting block on my polo and replace it with a more modern connection that will fit nicely into my rectangle shaped connector, looks like the only solution unless there is another way of doing this?

Yes mate, just find yourself a dead polo in a scrappy and steal the connectors with a bit of cable then grip them together, lots of people run into this.

When I bought my front indicators the bulbs required were the same as in the orange lenses ie. parallel pins.

However, the bulbholder's connections were rounded off as in your diagram and the car's connectors were squared off (or vice-versa).

After a little while thinking and deciding to cut the cars connector off and crimping some small spade terminals on. I realised I was thinking about it wrong and just used the old bulb holders from the original orange indicators as the can be removed and fitted to the clear indicators so you won't have a problem of mismatched connectors.

To take the bulbholders out just hold the lens and twist.

Thanks for the tip mo, but just finished with the indicators.

It may sound like a tacky job but it works great! All i did was round off the inner edges of the square connector, took a bit of time but they fitted eventually!

o and they worked fine too

Um, no it isnt!!!

It takes about 2 minutes to remove the old one and then fit the new one in. There are only like 2 plastic clips holding it in!!!

. btw how do you take the front headlights as one is getting changed tomorrow. Do i have to take the front bumper off?
