high level brake light not working

Post by matty2767 »

i have a 2001 tdi. i know that in the past i had abot 3 leds out but recently i have noticed that none of them work. i have checked the manual but assumed they do not have their own fuse and all of the other lights work. i see there are two holes in the boot lid covered by rubber plugs. is this the way to remove the bulbs? or if anyone else can point me in the right direction to finding the fault it would be appreciated.

thanks

yo
you would need to buy a full replacement third brake-light from either Ebay (try the german one) or a VW dealer.
maybe vagparts at the bottom of the forum could help?

i read about this in the Haynes manual

cheers ben. didnt think to look in the haynes manual. (i havent got one because mines a tdi). but i suppose the brake light is the same for everyone.

but what if it isnt the brake light that is faulty. is there anyway i could check? does it have a fuse?

there are no bulbs - its made up of LEDs and once they are gone, you need to replace the whole unit

I think its on the same fuse as the main brake lights, so if they are working, then its not the fuse?
