Whats this? Should i have plugged or unplugged

Post by yumzone »

Hi there

Ive got this posted on another forum so sorry to bore you if you have seen twice.

I was filling my window wash water up in the car and having a general look around when i noticed this:

The black thing like a plug was not in the hole so i popped it in
It was located here just right of the engine mound.

Does anybody know what it is?
Should it have been plugged in? or left out?

Any ideas?

Thanks yummy

This is the clutch inspection hole cover & should be in the hole. Mine was also unplugged when I got my MKV (second hand). It's often mistaken for the gearbox top up hole, with dire consequences to the clutch plate.

Ah cheers for that ... would that have caused any probs being open ?

How do you inspect the clutch through there just play peep po through the hole lol.

Another question when im switching my air con on it makes quite a loud click in the engine bay (oh dear) surely the click should not be that loud just for turning the air con on??? poo hooo

As far as I'm aware it shouldn't cause any probs (unless something dropped into it !). I can't imagine you'll see a lot throught that small hole. Can't help with air-con as I don't have it. :(

with the question you have with the air-con its your air con compressor kicking in which causes your engine revs to drop. hope this helps.
