strange clunk?

Post by danny_boy »

hey people i was wondering if anybody has had the same problem. when turning ive heard a clunking noise coming somwher from the front.
it somtimes sounds like metal hitting on metal, ive only noticed it in the last few days and it doesnt happen everytime :?
im quite worried about it coz it pulls to the left quite badly aswell but i dnt know if that has anything to do wit it.
i had the tracking set up last saterday and a whole new suspension kit about 3 weeks ago.
cheers Dan

I get this too, when reversing out of my driveway. I always assume it's the springs turning, and you said you have put on a suspension kit. I don't think you should be worried about it really.

Not really. Take it to some sort of VW specialist or dealership (if you're feeling flush), and ask them to sort out the tracking and camber.

Also, I am sure the camber can be adjusted, since I had it done when I fitted my 60mm suspension kit a while ago.

It might be worth giving the bolts on top of the suspension strut a tighten with a torque wrench to the specified values. I can scan it from my copy of the 6n2 Haynes manual, if you want.

I made this mistake of not tightening the bolts properly, when I fitted my suspension kit, and I was fortunate enough to sort out the problem before something terrible would've happened to the car.

Apologies for the quad posting. No malice was meant, I was just using a cr*p computer, which wouldn't respond.
