Airbag light help!

Post by SAM_MK4_19D »

Hi All,

Been quite a while since my last post. I modded my motor from standard all in one go a few months ago. Now I've lived with it for a bit theres a few niggling points that need dealing with. As she's now at 90k near enough its service time so I'm gonna do it in a oner. I have removed the original steering wheel which had an airbag in it. I now have my Momo Race with raid snap off boss so I can detach my steering wheel for security. This has obviously lead to my airbag light illuminating. I now want to switch it off. I have been given a resistor which is supposed to be the same resistance as the airbag. It therefore needs to be reset I believe by volkswagen. Has anyone had this done if so how long does it take and any idea of price?

I tried to resolve it my self as I intend to run this car until it goes to the scrappers i.e. never sell it. I thought hey quick fix I'll remove the bulb. I therefore stripped the dials out and tried to do remove the needles so I could get the dial faces off to remove the bulb. I cannot no matter how hard I pull get the needles off. What am I doing wrong? I did however bend the dial faces up a bit and could not actually see any bulbs at all. Are there any underneath or am I wasting my time? Mine is a 1998 R reg diesel model with digital mileage etc which I believe are called the post 1998 dials.

Any experiences or thoughts would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Sam. :?

Easy job fella to unplug the airbag light you simply remove your stereo and pull the plug from the back of the light. Will never bother you again!

Do you mean like reach round to the back of the dials an pull a plug out. I know my dials just have 2 big multi plugs going in to the back.
