Hand brake problem?

Post by mmh »

The other day I got into my car and tried to reverse to get out of my parking spot, I put the handbrake down fully and put it in reverse but the car didn't move and it felt like the rear nearside was raising up.

I went out and checked if anything was in the way but there was nothing.

Got back in tried again and same thing, so I tried moving forward - there was a little pop and then it moved forward and then I could reverse again.

Today I pulled the hand brake up and it would not engage after a couple of goes it did in the end.

What might this problem be any ideas?

Cheers,
Mo

It happens with mine sometimes after leaving it sitting overnight, it just sticks. Pulling forward sorts it out though.

just where the moisture overnight causes the pads and discs or drums to produce surface rust. happens to mine the morning after i wash her too. jsut pops off and then after a little dab on the brakes its clear

Mine used to stick too (just one side) if left for a couple of days or more. I now leave it in the garage with the handbrake off.

If the handbrakes not going on again after its popped off though, there is a problem, could be a snapped handbrake cable
