steering colum problem

Post by Robi mk4 »

rite i was drivin home as u do, wen the steering wheel dropped down n started wobbling side 2 side, i thought u kno ill just push it back up n lock it in position with the lil latch thingo, but it seems that it was more of a problem than this, it keeps falling down, but it doesnt stay in the down position it bounces up n down like a yo-yo n goes side 2 side!! WTF, any help please lol

The clamp that the little latch is attached to has broken, its quite common. I think its quite an arsey job to fit a new one though if i remember right

yea i think mine is the same, the latch pushes a pin up to lock the wheel into place, so u cn set it high or low, sumting has snaped either the bolt or the bit that is pushed up, as this is not working properly, can be done maually by pushin the bolt up into place, but bit dodgy, will fix soon i hope
