Knocking noise on mk4

My 16V makes a knocking noise from the front left when hitting some bumps in the road.
It's lowered approx 40mm on Eibach springs. I can't find anything loose, the top mounts were brand new in March.

I noticed that the anti roll bar is close to the body and has rubbed the body protection away on both sides.

Could this be the knocking sound ?, although it only appears to be on the left side.

I was thinking of going lower but I don't think I'll bother if it's already rubbing on such a small drop.

Some GTi owers have had this problem: ARB knocking on one side only when lowered.

Cheers Josh, sounds like this is probably the problem. Not a major prob then just a bit annoying.
Does yours do it ?.

FWIW, mine does. I choose to ignore it

It's gotten better since I raised it to winter height, and the rock solid KW's help out too.

mine did it when it was really low the anti roll bar was hitting the underside of the body on the left side it might have been as the front wasn't level one side was slightly lower than the other, i had it raised and levelled out it stopped knocking, check to see is the car is level alround, had it raised for winter can't wait till spring will get it lowered again..
