04 (9n) Black Magic Polo Detailed by Me!

Hi everyone

So, 8 hours of hard graft, and my mate's wife's Polo has been transformed!

I was only asked to do the exterior, so all the work was on the outside.

The car was minging when I first got to it... 2 years of the Kosovan hand wash (read strong TFR!) had left the paint milky, dull and grey. She'd also picked up lots of scratches in the lacquer and it generally looked rubbish.

Di-Limonine
Zymol Premium Auto Wash
Wonder Wheels
Zymol Clay
3M Perfect It III Fine Compound (PC)
Poor Boys SSR1 (PC)
Poor Boys EX Sealant
Sonus Bumper & Rubber
Sonus Glass & Chrome
Meguiars Endurance Tyre Gel

Some of the "after" photos haven't come out too well as it was getting dark and I'd forgotten my tripod, but believe me, the difference was stunning!

And you can't beat a tidy engine bay.

What does the di-limonine do?

It's a Ph neutral orange-based degreaser/all purpose cleaner.

I wouldn't want to use it on paint very often as it's pretty hardcore, but on an initial deep clean, it works a treat

What a difference.

Looks amazing.

What would you recommend for hiding or removing swirls in paint? Preferably something i can buy in the High Street rather than online?

yeh i'm sick of swirls. whats best? is meguires scratch x good for iot??

To remove swirls you will need a Porter Cable or Rotary.

Amen to that...

VAG Paint is so tough that you really need some decent machinery and a wise choice of products to shift swirl marks on it.

To hide them, something like AG Super Resin Polish is probably the best stuff you can buy on the high street, but you will just be hiding them (and probably not really well) and they will come back as soon as the filler from the polish starts to wear off.

What's probably best is to find someone you can trust (through word of mouth etc) who can do the full works with a machine on your car, then you can just keep on top of it with regular waxing and careful washing.

good work Josh!! i had a go at detailing my car on friday!! i was very pleased with the results!!

until 2nite when it got shat on!!
