dont get a 5 door!!!!

i no some ppl here have them and will hate me saying this, but the MK5 looks so much better in three door, makes it seem bulkier in a way.

and definately get black, hell if i could afford it thats what i would have got.

thats about as far as my advice can go at the moment, keep your eye on ebay, i got mine there for pretty cheap.

its only a 1 litre but great condition, 50k miles for £2200

o and welcome!!!!

i agree, the 5 door polo is more convenient but 3 door looks better. i have a 5 door 1 litre metallic silver polo and it gets looks cause of wat ive done to it but im now looking at a 3 door with a bigger engine. preferably a polo gti. i seen a pretty good one with low mileage and am enquiring abotu it now. would be tempted if i can afford it. 3 door deffinately more sporty looking then 5 door but 5 door will look good if u do it up properly cause no one else will be doing up a 5 door.

What ever you decide, whether 3 or 5 door... black, blue, red whatever... is fine with me...

Have a read here for common faults and good luck with your purchase

Real men drive four doors :D

Four doors are a lot more practical, anyway. And they look as good (even better, in some cases) than the 3 door.

I got mine back in 2003, and paid £4200 for it, with around 23k miles.

I'd go for the stunning pearlescent grey colour, black, or surf blue (I'm biased though )

Make sure the car has a full service history, and doesn't have anything dodgy about it. I've had no previous faults with mine, and hope not to have any for a good time yet.

IMO whether or not a car looks good in a 5 door al depends on what they do with the back windows. Some cars e.g corsa's have another little window between the rear door and the rear window. If you you follow you'll probably understand. Any way I dont like that sort, but my father had a MK5 5-door and it looked really nice.

welcome to the forum
i'd go for either really, 3 or 5 doors, the car is still the same shape afterall :)
as for colour, black is nice but shows up scratches if you don't look after it everyday!
What matt grey is that? i have blue-anthracite pearl which apparently is an unusual colour, i got told it was just metallic grey but when i went to vw they told me that it was a pearl and i suppose you can see it in the sunshine (which we don't often get!)

My old mk4 polo was a 5 door, and i've got to admit i prefer my 3 door mk5 now!

Black is an excellent colour once cleaned up, but give it a day or two and it will look completely ditched again (washed mine on tuesday and now it's filthy)
