dam, well it doesnt rle matter eitherway, im lookin at a new box if its oil or the diff.

hes got the car now and i shud find out over the wk end or summit wot my options are, like do it well for a lot, or do it s**t for cheap n then sell it on.

i dont wanna sell her :cry:

Oh dear, looks like another polo gearbox has gone, mine went a few weeks back mate, exactly the same thing, the seal has gone on your box mate at least i think it was that, or bearings of some sort, it had been whining for ages but one day it made a massive whine and that was the end of it! cost me £565 for the parts and labour! good look in search for a gearbox mate! any other problems with it let me know!

oh and no it is not your diff! and no you havent popped any driveshafts, its deffo your gearbox matey, 100% guarenteed

Mate, the diff is in the gearbox.

The bearings that usually go affect the diff as well as cog and crank positions. Mine managed to get stuck in 4th in the end because the bearings had fooked and everything twisted around inside.

ok well i dont know much about cars but im having problems with mine to. i spoke to my cousing whos a mechanic about my car and he said its the gear box. i was just hoping it was the clutch. oh well. i got a 2000 1 litre 5 door polo and once i get round to getting the problem fixed i'll probably sell it as i should start saving for a house now. bloody gf's allways have these ideas.. grrr!!!
