Wanting to install a switch for my amp/sub.

Post by SAM_MK4_19D »

Hi,

I've just fitted my JBL sub & amp. I want to install a switch so I can switch the sub off say if i'm listening to radio where there is little need to use the sub. I was going to put the switch on the blue wire called amp remote. This switches the amp on and off with the head unit so if I make my own switch on it and put it under the dash I should be able to overide the signal from the head unit right. Does my idea sound about right? Has anyone else done the same or is there a better way of doing it. I'm open to ideas.

Cheers

Sam.

All done. The toggle switch I bought from Halfords got binned by my brother. Being an electrician he's a little picky. Had a dig around and found a fairly neat octagonal push switch. This will be better as it doesn't risk being caught as I get in and out like a toggle switch probably would. Plus its black and red!! Bonus  Here's a couple of piccy's now its installed. It breaks the amp remote wire (blue) by the way so I can overide the signal of the headunit when it tries to switch on the amp.
