k well i noticed the far right nut holding my rocker cover has snapped! it just spins about in it little hole, im guessing it must have been like this for a good while and its not leaking. so for the moment im going to leave it as is.
anybody had this problem before and how was it fixed? (if its a case of getting the nut out and replacing at home thats FINE by me as i wouldnt mind cleaning up the rocker)
also im going to start looking for the following bits to swap onto/into my 1.6 8v mk4 :
rear discs and appropriate master cylinder (gti parts from 6n2?)
braided hoses (obviously need to buy new ones)
some nice 15inch VAG wheels with 4 stud pattern (looking at 15 as i have 15's on currently but the alloys are ugly but have brand spanking new tyres.. it seems a waste!)
nicer interior.. mines blue FFs, so i was thinking 16v interior or maybe an ibiza cupra interior?
clear indicators + mk5 lights (or nice m4 aftermarkets goin cheap)
front fogs
16v bumpers in fjord blue (i dont want to pay for painting!)
i cant think of anything else off the top of my head but there's probably LOADS.
cheers guys im keeping my eyes peeled on fleabay but i aint seen anything appropriate.
p.s gti suspension wouldnt go a miss actually..
few q's on sourcing parts and a fix needed
Hi Pete,
Well I too have a Fjord/Pacific Blue Polo and can say it's quite rare to find a 16v in that colour down the breakers etc, trust me I've been searching since March
When you say rocker cover do you mean the plastic engine cover? because on mine the far left bolt holding the cover on just spins, I think the thread has gone and I haven't managed to get it off yet!
For braided hoses I went for Goodridge hoses off eBay I also paid the extra £4 to get them in blue too. The seller is RiceRocketUK but does sell bits for the Mk4 Polo. The hoses were made up and got delivered straight from Goodridge themselves.
As for rear lights I went for Blue Mk4 Hella colour magic lamps as well as for the front indicators and side repeaters in blue too. I'm thinking of changing the rears for Mk5 Hella Blue with LED brake lights or standard Mk5 red ones when I've got some cash. Fronts I would go for angel eyes.
For the rest of your mods I'm looking to do similar but its all down to cash

ahh no its the actual rocker cover nut, i played around colour coding the engine cover.. but at the moment i dont really like it so its on my floor behind some clothes at the moment.. see if we have any better paint for it!
i thohugt as much about the 16v bumpers. although i think the top end glx? had 16v bumpers. it may work out easier to get some european mk4 bumpers as i think they are all 16v style.. that'd be nice
as you said its all money. and my final year of uni isnt helping!
well i'll check the goodridge stuff
