Not really, if a copper sees them, then he'll pull you whether you driving like a knob driving decently or even parked up.

@RR Livi - the front 2 side windows have to let 70% of light through, the front screen cannot be tinted at all, as for the rest you can paint them if you want, it doesn't matter how dark they are.

not in Dundee MM!

EVERYONE is being pulled and told to take them off wether there legal or not :|

When i got mine tested the passenger side passed and the drivers side failed 2%

The reason there alot strict in Dundee is all the Chavs in there corsa's and Saxo's speeding about pulling handbrakes left right and centre, burn outs - surprised the majority get away with it lol

Sorry to start this argument again!

but im pretty sure that as long as u dont tint your windscreen, everything else is legal. I think the front two windows have to let in so much light.. but getting it professionaly done should save the worry of wondering if its legal or not. As the place near me go over the top telling you that this is legal that isnt..etc.

Im waiting to get my car tinted. Its a metalic red. so cheers guys.. this is helping me out!!!!

Think they changed the law for this not so long ago... rear windows you can do what you want, windscreen not allowed to be tinted, and front side windows are a certain percentage.

I'm wanted to get mine done and just wanted a light smoke all round. Don't want darker rears coz it looks chav / jap cr*p. Just wanted a subtle light tint. Spoke to a company called dappa tints and they advised me that as GavPolo has pointed out you now cannot tint anything but B pillar back. Based on that I treated my car to a sub instead. Tints would finish mine off a treat but can't be bothered winding up the law when I do 30k per year. As for sunstrips any deeper than 100mm will probably fail your MOT and look sh**e anyway. Dubs don't need tints or tacky sunstrips in my opinion to look good. Better spending your money on other sweet touches.

The other thing I noticed is Dappa Tints now offer tint removal at a large cost for tints fitted prior to the new regs. Seems a bit of a con to me!!

I Got 5% Light on the tailgate, 20% on the rear windows and 50% on the front. Where i live the police are only likely to bother you if they cant see your wearing your seatbelt or on a mobile phone. I dont think they are chav, especially at £250.

Also i think they match the other black bits on my car, and fit the black and blue theme.

Im glad their is this debate, as it is a fairly hard decision.

On one hand the car can can look just as good with out tints... and you dont need to put tints on a car to make it look good. To a certain extent it is like taking the easy option in making your car stand out.. and in away it can make your car stand out for the wrong reason. It will attract attention from police... which we all dont like. And it will also attract attention from wan*ers who brake into cars.

However on the other hand, its does add a fun mysterious touch to your car. Its a thing i have allways wanted to do. And does make your car look like it has a sh*t load of attitude.

Maybe its a thing you only do once??

but i think that its boring how many cars have tints and alloys.
I only want to add tints to my car when i feel i have made a pressence with lights and other exterior styling.

This is my car currently.... i have a few things on it.

Image

Im also waiting to spray the rear spoiler, and waiting to pick up the morrette headlight kit.

But i think once i get my money back to where it should be... which i think will be 2 more months.. then i think i will get tints. What do you guys think??
Also im only planning medium tints!

LOL... YOU SNOOZE YOU LOOSE!!!

Anyway.. i got the head lights of ebay for £72. it happened yesterday.. and yes it was at £57 and then me and this other person battled away for them in the last min of the auction. But yeah, i would have liked to pay less. But at the same time i have wanted them for along time. And at £72 i dont feel like i paid over the odds. I was told by one of the web pages for body kits that the part cost around £400 and if im very lucky maybe less...but they have stoped being made. So either way im happy and no i wont see many of the same on other cars! 8)
