I have a standard Pold c and needed also ann astra estate with roof rails. I had a set of thule roof bars for thye astra and wanted to use them on th epolo. Saw a ranger at the scrap yard with th eroof bars.
Carefully took them off so I could see how they went on, measured where the holes in the roof were then went home armed with a 1 inch hole saw for the drill.
Next came the leap of faith. After marking out the hole position carefully then checking maybe 10 times again I attacked the roof with the hole saw. Fortunately there bang in line were the mounting bolt holes for the roof bars( I think they all have them there as standard). After carefully unclipping the roof lining it was a simple bolt on job albeit with plenty of clear silicon in the hole just in case. Then hey presto ranger roof bars on the standard polo with the thule roof bars fitting perfectly. it looks great and i regularly use it for work with two sets of 3m long triple ladders. Even had 5 sheets of 18mm 8' x 4' marine ply boards (v. heavy)on the top the other day.
The polo knows no limits.
Just as an aside I needed 24 empty beer crates for a soakaway in my garden in the summer, my dad had some and took them into his work in his Dodge Ram pick up. With the rear cover on he had to have about 4 of them inside the cab and said I would need a few runs to get them home.
Rear sets popped down, then little polo ate them up with only one on the front seat!
