big problem!

just driving along normally today in my 1.4 8v when my car started sounding like the exaust was falling off, pulled over, checked over it then drove it home cautiously and found it misfiring a having no acceleration at all. Also when left to idle the engine shakes a lot and the revs dip below 10 then back up again etc. anyone help me diagnose the problem? thanks for your time, i really need my car back!

well it could be the idle control valve,ignition coil,timing

it was 1 of my ht leads causing it to misfire, saw in arching when it was dark, luckinly i had a few lying around cheers again, james
