G40 leak....

Post by buster.g40 »

Left my G40 out of the garage last night and we had HEAVY rain
overnight.Started her up this morning and noticed the drivers
side carpet was soaking :? .Anyone any ideas where i
should start looking for the leak before i start ripping stuff out. :x

Lift the battery out and check the tray underneath for holes. Very common place apparently (though I personally have never had this problem). I bet this is where it's coming from

If not, have you checked your windscreen rubber seal? Might not be fitted at a corner properly or there could be corrosion underneath a bit of the seal

another place i would check is inside your door trims. behind the door card should be a plastic cover which seperates the inside from the outside. if this is damaged at all, there is a chance water runs down the window, into the door and then out the bottom of the door into your footwell. its a common thing on mk2's and mk3's.

Hope that is of some help!

This man speaks the truth ^^ The door condoms are leaky... as they say it isn't 100% against 'spillage' ;)

Cheers, Buster. Nah, no grief from anyone about them. Most new European cars have side markers anyway (namely Volvo)
