Changing Central Locking to only open one door

Post by mr_ot »

The handbook for my MKV states that the central locking settings can be altered so that only the door with the key in will be unlocked with one turn of the key - if you want to open all doors then you turn the key twice (it's a 5 door). The manual says to ask your VW dealer... does anyone know how I can change these setting myself?

Thanks.

You have to use vag-com. Its a vag specific diagnostics program for your laptop. You then need a lead to plug into your OBD2 port under your ashtray.

There's lots of things you can turn on/off with it. You can also have automatic dead locks that lock your doors at 10mph or have the alarm chirp when lock your doors :D

Dead lock? Does every model have this option? How much would VW charge to get this done?

Cheers

I've never been able to figure out how to use vag-com. To be honest i've not looked at about websites about it, i just plugged the cable in and had a look around the program.

Is there any good guides about? I would love to enable the option for the doors to lock when you go over 10MPH and the alarm chirp.

Is there any over cool fuctions you can change/add?

My mate had it, so i just cough*tuckacopy*cough

I got a USB cable from ebay, but it took me ages to find the correct drivers for it.

Yeah i just use my laptop and plug it in. I didnt want to break anything by clicking buttons

The only real thing i've been able to do is make a little graph go up and down when i accelerate, which looks good, but its much use, when your trying to balance your laptop on your knee!
