can anyone recomend a speaker to get, mine has just packed up!

Kenwood do quite a nice set of 6 x 4's. They come in pairs though, so you might as well stick them in the parcel shelf supports and have stereo sound.

I've got 6 x9 's in my rear doorcards. is taht how big the speaker up front is 6 x 4?

I've always assumed so, it looks about right, but I've never actually seen one, so I can't swear to it.

front and back speakers r 6 x 4's
ive put a set of JBL's in the back cos bout 50quid but i got an old 1 in the front.
