How wide?

Post by mk4ads »

:o

Im going to buy some 15" dishy rims on Thursday and just got a couple questions

1) How wide can i go? 8" back 7.5" front? :D Wider??? (No arch modding)

2) Depending on how wide i can, what offset would i be looking at for that width

3) This isnt important, but if anyone has done it then it would be useful to know, how low could i drop it on the widest rims i can fit?

Im sure some of the Euro members on the forum will be able to help :D

Cheers

Hey Ads,

Don't know if this really helps or not, but when I dropped it stoopid low, my front wheels did in fact rub a bit. They were 7x15 ET 32... So pretty conservative.

Didn't Ajay have 8x15 et 26 all round? That gave him loads of trouble, IIRC. I think you'd get away with 7,5" width, but more and there'll be trouble.

As a general comment... If you've found the 'right' wheels for your car and the look you're after, get 'em. If it means having the arches rolled afterwards... Well, that's just part of the fun. Styling (and tuning too, I guess) is about commitment.

Im thinking 15"x7.5" then

What offset would i be looking at? I know that ET35-37 is normal for 6 & 6.5" wide so i guess about ET25 for 7.5" ?

hopeing for atleast an 80mm drop with no scrub, but can it be done? i think so :D

Well as a reference, the GTI wheels are 6x15 with ET 43 (well, something very near those figures) so I'd aim for ET35 when going for 7,5" wide.

Get 45-profile tyres too, to avoid rubbing.
