GTI Honeycomb Grille

Post by vwdan »

was tempted to get one of these for my polo!

worth it? i really like the honeycomb look (or chicken wire as my dad calls it)

how much would you pay? seen the genuine ones for about £25
also are they easy to fit? how easy is it to unclip the old one and clip on a new one?

Thanks :D

Incredibly easy.

If you can't swap a standard grille for the GTi mesh one, you shouldn't be allowed to drive. Only 4 clips along the top of it, takes 30seconds to do.

And yes they're worth it. Cheap and very effective mod.

am not a huge one for modding but I really liked the look of the grille.

i thought it was just gti

def not planning on getting the gti badge. would look alright apart from the fact it isnt a gti lol

what about going for a black badge on the front? quite a few people do this but im not so sure to be honest

only gtis came with the honeycomb grill, 99% sure that tdi's had the standard one.

black badges do look good but personally i think they suit black cars the best and look a lil bit out of place with any other coloured car.

also if changing the main grill to honeycomb, you can also get fog grills in honeycomb as well. (assuming you have fogs). youll notice the grills on the bumpers currently are a crosshatch/diamond shape, whereas gti will have these grills in honeycomb (to match its main grill)...

plenty of simple yet subtle mods available, maybe a gti splitter?? rear spoiler?? rxII's?? xenons?? lol

I'd have to disagree that black badges look out of place on non black GTi's 8)

the silver polo with black badge looks quite good but i cant say im that fussed. i think i prefer the chrome style finish but each to there own.

the honeycomb grill should be on its way!!
i quite like it and did see like you said the matching style fog grilles.
not got front fogs though :( which is a bit annoying!

maybe later on. i think the honeycomb grill will def look good especially as i seen it on other cars on this forum

was tempted with some xenons. not too fussed though same with a spoiler. light subtle options are always good.

there are some really nice cars on here though. lot of work has obviously gone into them

Personally i think black badges look better on other colours as it mixes things up a bit. On a black car, i think it can some times look a bit too much black at times! All in all, i think black badges look better on all over the chrome.

the black badge looks good on yours vee-dub
i think in the flesh the black badge would look better. i have always liked the chrome look. i would have thought that on a black car a chrome badge would really make it stand out but saying that, the black one which was on here looked pretty smart!!

wish my car was black lol really like them in black but i will stick with my silver
