i found out exactly why they don't fit the centre bore on the rims is 56, whereas the polo's is 57. So i need to get it machined out... the only problem is i have no clue where to look.. i tried typing machinist into yell.co.uk but it comes up with heavy duty machinery any other suggestions or recommendations of places around london. Also how much would it be to bore it out?
Recently have just done this on some Exips. Problem i had was that the bore to was 56.15, where it should be 57mm.
I used a cyclinder hone, you can buy them off ebay. They have got like 3 legs with stones on the end of them. They just attach to a standard drill.
You will need a set of stones for each alloy. I jus bored them out and tried them on the hub until they fitted perfect, as it was only a mm difference.
I couldnt find any machinists local, so i did it this way. Hope it helps.
Easier (and a lot quicker) than a honer, buy a set of rotary files. Ebay Link
Just slowly spin it inside the centre bore and apply even pressure going in a anti clockwise direction. Takes 5mins tops per wheel, just keep checking it on the car till its the right size. I did it on a set ages ago that were 54mm bore and was dead easy!
