help needed regarding dropping gearbox

Post by Crewy »

Ok well i am going to finish removing my gearbox on my mk4 16v tomorrow but i need to hold the engine up.

There is a point on the sump but i am sure you shouldnt put the trolley jack there does anyone have an idea where a good place to put the jack to hold the engine up while the gearbox is off.

i will try the piece of wood

Unfortunalty i dont have access to an engine crane and the engine only needs to be held up for a short time due to putting a new gearbox on right after taking old one off

I had the cam belt done on my polo, and had to drop the engine so it was easier to get to the Tensioner, it was on a 2 post ramp, and lowered down onto a trolly jack, no probs at all, but as said if you had, had access to a engine hoist, even better
