Hello, I would appreciate it very much if anyone can help me.
I am trying to find the correct HT Leads for my 1983 MkII 1050cc Polo. I have been to several outlets including Halfords and Eurocarparts and each time they have supplied me with the wrong type which do not fit on the spark plugs.
The original leads on the car at the moment are made completely of rubber, but the new ones I have bought have a metal sheath on the one end. I have removed the sheath to try and get them to fit on, but they still will not.
I have also been to my local VW dealership and they said they can get them in at £27.50 each!! Which I am not willing to pay.
Can anyone advise me on which set to buy.
Thank you,
Jo.
Mk II Polo HT Leads
Are you sure you've got the right plugs in?
I've had all rubber and metal sheathed on Polo's over the years and never had trouble finding a set that fit. Generally speaking, if Europarts send you something, it fits, I've had a few occassions where I've thought they've sent the wrong thing and I've always been in the wrong

Thanks for your reply omicron. I have replaced the plugs with new ones and they seem identical to the old ones. The old HT leads fit on both fine.
The car will start with the old HT leads, but not when it is wet. I am using a process of elimination to try and resolve the problem, I thought a new set of plugs, leads and distributor cap might help.

Please forgive my ingorance omicron, i am by no means mechanically minded. I've just realised that even though the old and the new spark plugs fit with the old HT leads, they may be a different type of plug that was originally on the car when first manufactured, and the HT leads I have just purchased are meant for the original type of spark plug.
I will try again tomorow.
Thanks again for your help.
