Post by steveo3002 »

my polo has a differant key for the boot and petrol cap, is there a way to make it all one key?

i heard something about filling the tumblers down??

the petrol cap has a funny little key thats not like the ign key...is that normal or a aftermarket cap?

Petrol cap is always different

Doors, hatch and ignition should match. The boot lock is susceptible to broken pins, so tends to get swapped.

If you're taking the locks out to rebuild the tumblers, you might as well get a matching lockset off a scrapper and just put that back in their place.

so new cars had a odd small key for the petrol cap anyway? hardly worth bothering then as the doors and ign are the same

If you remove your boot lock and take it and the door key you want to match it with to your VW dealer. They can re-tumble the lock to match your door key...my local dealer did it FOC
