oh really? i thought giving her short runs would be better than nothing? I have a hard time getting people to take me out in her...she wouldnt start today either so my friend said he'd try and get a battery from somewhere...

i think i should start reading that manual!!!

my ex says that the clicking was probably the exhaust cuz of the heat but i duno...Ive not had a look at it yet cuz its always so dark by the time im back from work but i shall have a poke (and probably make it worse!) tommorrow....after my mock test....oo er

Poor starting but being able to bump start is probably the battery if it is old or hasn't been used in a while. Also grab a new fan belt (alternator belt). You will need a belt dressing too, I use belt slip and recommend it, only costs £3.00 a can.

New spark plugs, ignition coil and HT leads wouldn't go a miss either.
Does this sound about right? lol.
I def need a new battery, the poor thing is completely dead..

Ticking?

Post by Saint Jimi »

If i Know my polos, a constant ticking will usually be your tappets not adjusting properly, on an L reg they should be hydraulic (self adjusting) but if there isn't enough oil, or the oil is s**t, or even too thick I have found they will not adjust right so they tick.

If oil doesn't help, tappets are about 8 quid each and you take the rocker cover off to change them.

Am I right boys and girls... I'm open to correction.

I havent noticed it ticking again....but i will check that out again as soon as..

FFS I hate this bloody car!

borrowed battery in....it is now aparent that it is either the alternator, the ignition thing i forget what its called or me leaving something unknown on. My nextdoor neighbour is going to check it out with me in a bit to test the alternator and ignition thing. Just had to jump start it to go to argos....then turned it off and then tried turn it on again 5secs later to check it would start but it just went chhhhhhc hhhhhhh...

So i reckon the alternators not charging it...cuz if it was there should have been enough volts for the ignitiony thing to work right? cuz its volt sensitive? and if the ignition was properly broke it wouldnt have been working the past 3 times when it ran absolutely fine....

Hmph!

this is what happens when you have a 500GBP budget and only spend 350GBP... at an auction...

Nah its all good, just teething problems
