New Member :-) Get my Polo SE next Sat!

Post by chrisash32 »

Hi All!!
Just been having a browse of the group for the past day or so.
Will be picking my new Polo 9n3 1.4 16v SE next week.

What are they like to live with?

I am part-ex'ing me Renault Megane Sport Hatch 1.9dci against the Polo in the hope for some trouble free motoring!

I have had the Megane 13 months, I got it days before its warranty expired, such a nice car! i got the top of the range spec (all the toys!) with the 120bhp DCi engine! I took out a loan and paid £8000 for the car!

But I had not bargained on what was to come. During these 13 months of ownership, I have had to pay £5,800 in repairs and replacements just to keep it usable.

Just had another quote to fix the airbags and power steering that went 2 weeks ago on me! I have had enough!

I only got £3250 part ex for the car so a £10,000 loss in 13 months is pretty good going lol!

I will still be paying for the Megane until December 2008!

Hopefully i have done the right thing in getting a VW!

I am just going to miss the power that the Megane had and all the toys!

Never mind!!

Also, i have been looking around and you can get a front arm rest for the polo, but has anyone ever tried fitting one. I have looked on eBay and they are not supplied with fitting instructions.

Thanks

Hi Chris

Welcome to VW family.

I'm leaving Renault ownership shortly too. I had a Clio (from new) didn't have the major problems that it sounds like you had, but was never totally happy with mine.

Build quality and materials never seemed up to VW standards.
Had to have coils replaced and bulbs in headlights always seemed to be blowing....and its almost impossible to change them because there is so little space.

I've owned two Polos previously and loved them. I'm getting my new Polo by end of Jan (fingers crossed).

I think you'll be very happy with it

Thanks Andy,
My Megane only spent 10 of the 13 months i owned it actually on the road!
I could never go back to Renault.

My girlfriend has a Polo 1.9d (Oo=vw=oO) version, her mum has a Passat and her dad has a VW T4 Transporter Camper Van. I think the build quality of all three of them is really good!

None of them have ever seen a garage from new! (only for services)

So hopefully i have joined a good club! lol

Thanks

Chris

I have got that armrest but never fitted it, I have to say it is really well made. To Fit it in the car all you need to do is remove the handbrake surround and put the armrest where that was. Then (and the reason I dont want to fit it) you need to drill two holes in the floor and secure the armrest with self tappers. You would only be able to see the screws if you sat in the back of the car, I just didnt fancy taking a drill to my new car. The arm rest is in as new condition - if you still want one let me know and we can sort something out.

i think u should try your luck. especially if they told u u can have it a certain time. try a guilt trip and tell them u were suppose to be taking ur car on holiday to see your family in (use a fairly far away place) or something like that... if u haggle enough they'll give in just to shut u up..... works for me.

as for having problems, i have the 6n2 model and havnt really had problems, well none that have cost much n e way....... untill now. hopefully i'll be picking my car up this saturday from my cousins garage..... been about 7 or 8 weeks on saturday since i last saw it. luckily i can still remember what it looks like.

the engine and gear box have both been taken out and rebuilt with a load of new parts due to a problem they didnt know what it was. and its had a new clutch to...... it should be near enough perfect when i get it back....

Went to VW on sat to give them my Megane as the insruace ran out today and they told me that it should be ready by 12:00pm on Wednesday!!! yay! cant wait so excited!

Just been looking at getting a MFD headunit for it on ebay!
What do you guys think? they worth it?

I asked the garage if they could fit cruise control as an extra, they told me they cant, but its advertised in the price book! anyone know why that is?

Thanks!!

Hi Chris

Bet you can't wait, my garage suggested wednesday for getting my car, but I have so much work on I said Friday. Just as well as no sign of insurance certificate yet, hopefully postie will deliver tomorrow.

Anyway the only Cruise control I can see as an option is under "Factory fitted" Page 6, so if your car is already at dealer you've had it for any of the goodies on that page.

I don't know enough about cruise control, but you might be able to retro fit it from an independent supplier. I'm sure someone on here will let you know if that's possible.

Andy
