My problems a bit wierd because when i try to start the car it doesnt even tick...but banging the solenoid on the head with a hammer doesnt work either, i would have thought it would tick but all you can actually hear is the injection system...unless its clicking dead quietly..
Does the Starter motor have a fuse?

Before I buy a new starter motor I have been told to ask whether it has a fuse?....that could have blown...to make my MK3s not work.

Right, ours appears to be around £75+vat +surcharge (obviously refundable on return of old unit). Also, i'd had to order one. I thought this seemed a lot, so rang my mate at GSF for you, he says £58+vat and surcharge. And they've got them in stock. So, i tried, but on this occasion was beaten. So i'd buy theirs.

Forgot about this one. If the starter solenoid isn't engaging (clicking noise from the starter when you turn the key), the problem is most likely in a more minor electrical system, a popped fuse or relay, or a dodgy connection somewhere.Chally_Rai wrote:you what now?omicron wrote:Most likely not your starter motor then.
Unfortunatly, without being there, I don't know what it could be.
