Single CD-Player buttons do not light up

just installed the VW single CD-Player together with the VW Gamma H/U.
When the headlights are on, the Gamma buttons light up (red/blue) but the CD-Player buttons do NOT.

There are two sockets at the back of the CD-Player -- one with 8 pins and one with two pins.

I guess one of these is to power the lights in the CD-Player. But where can I get this from wire from ? Local VW shop did not know what I was talking about -- strange as it's a simple device.

A m8 told me to go to another dealer and they sold me this cable for £14:


touch pricey but now we can see where the CD player is when driving in the dark
