stainless exhaust
Guys which is the best stainless exhaust for the gti and is it best to ditch the cat and go for a straight through or stick to cat back? thanks.

Hi Harry
If I were you I'd keep the cat... You'll fail the MOT otherwise.
Magnex do a system for the GTi, but imho the backbox is just too big.
Magnex, Miltec, Supersprint are all brands to look out for whenever you're looking for exhausts. I had a Piper on my previous polo and although it was a bit of a bugger to fit, it sounded really nice.
I think I'm going to try and get a Miltec with a stealth pipe when I get round to getting a new exhaust (ie when mine starts falling to bits!)
Let us know what you end up getting... I'm sure our friends at JBS will be able to help you out!

i've seen a cat back system with back box stainless steel available from ripspeed (i've got some gift vouchers tho i'd use them for that) it's made by janspeed and it is a single oval/letter box type tail pipe £270 all in i need to arrange a time with the lads from jbs as i'm also working on some new lights also for the rear will let you know how i get on.. a mate of mine has the janspeed on his 16v polo and it looks smart, subtle and not too loud.

Whatever you go for, I would say keep the same number of silencers. I'm not keen on the sound of the janspeeds, each to their own. You could get a cat replacement pipe, but you need to be able to put the other back for mot.
Supersprint are probably a safe choice, not sure about Miltek as a friend of mine had problems with his (but It wasnt on a VW).

I had a Janspeed on my old Metro Turbo and it sounded sooooooo good!!!
but then it was turbo'd and not a vw... oh, and a firnd had one on his astra 16v turbo and again it sounded the t**s!!
I have a Motex which is too loud (but I only have 1 silencer..) and I'm sure they would do a system for a GTI.

i'm afraid they do that, i had a good look at them yesterday, the janspeed comes with a really big oval tailpipe (too much like a boy racer) the mongoose again not the best, the supersprint is a letterbox style rear in stainless and centre section in mild steel? pricey as well back box £278 and centre section £120 and mild steel no remus available and jetex was put off by alot of the tailpipes don't want it to be too big they also had no idea about forced induction kits for a polo gti engine (not good)...
