Does anyone get a reverse gear type noise in 1st?

If this was my only problem I would. But I'm still getting the whining type noise when I put my foot on the accelerator that was there before which led me to believe my gearbox was on its last legs.

Maybe they put a turbo on for youu????????



It might just be in your head alun, being paranoid about the gearbox. It could just be cos you aint driven it in a while and didnt really notice it when you drove it all the time.

It could be the electrics being a bit noisy, you should here the electris on the new style minis!!! Sounds like a robot giving it big shapes on the dance floor!!!!

Sounds to me like the bearing has gone. Get it replaced quick before it costs you an arm and a leg. I think my uncle said the bearing is like £60 to get. Better then spending £500-£750 buying or reconditioning a box.

The gearbox can go at anytime, so I would get it checked straight away especially if its that bad.

Sorry to scare you, but I had a similar problem to you when my gearbox went. I should have listened to my uncle and got it done straight away, but being me I ignored him and ended up paying for a new gearbox. The old one could have been reconditioned but the casing was so badly worn it wasn't worth it. If it is the gearbox the car will start juddering and eventually you'll lose drive from the car.
