Help – Steering & peddle box issue! MOT fail

Post by JKM_GTI »

My car failed it’s MOT yesterday, as the MOT testing station said there was movement in the steering wheel when you press on the brake peddle or clutch (I have noticed it move a few mm before actually). It seems to raise a little (The steering wheel that is)

My question is – Does this happen to anyone else? It’s very hard to notice unless someone points it out; it’s literally a few mm

They also failed it on the brake hoses rubbing on the tyres on full lock, reckons it’s because the car is so low, I have had it up on a friends ramp a few times, I noticed some rubbing, but nothing dangerous – any ideas how I can cure this? Cable ties?

The garage didn’t seem busy, so probably wanted the extra work! Advice on the steering issue would be great!

So now I am left without a car, as the damn thing has run out of MOT!

I know, same here, my car is costing me mega bucks at the moment, got insurance due next month + tax

I would replace it, but I can't find anything to match it on spec / cost (Plus I figure I am sorting all these bits out, surely nothing else can go wrong :? )
