Suspension top mounts

Post by The_phat_controlleruk »

I am hoping someone may read this and offer some help as I am at my wits end. I recently had my suspension lowered by 80mm. Had it fitted by the local spanner monkey, he mentioned I would need to replace the strut top mounting as there was some play. On the way home, I noticed the steering made a noise like the suspension was thumping every time I turned the wheel. So I went to GSF and bought new rubber mounts and bearings and had them fitted the next day by the same garage. Driving away, no difference, the spring sounds like it is coming unseated, if that makes sense. My wheel alignment is way out, pulls like mad to the left, they won't do the tracking without the top mounts being sorted. The guy was telling me the top mount needs to be a "mushroom" shape to account for the uprated suspension. Spoke to GSF and they didn't know what the guy was talking about, all they do is standard mounts. My problem is I drive 120 miles a day, this mileage is seriosly going to screw my tyres. Is anyone able to offer any help ??? pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

take it to a different place to get the tracking done? if you're only changing the top mounts, it's only your camber that's out, right?
