how to identify different models?

Post by lil g »

hey guys, been looking for a polo for quite a while and i *think* i've found a good one.

im looking for a 75 bhp one and this one says its a 1.4 S [75bhp], but the thing is, is that iv seen a few cars where it says its 75 bhp but the engine cover says MPI. am i right saying that the 60 bhp ones have MPI on the engine and the 75 bhp have 16v? i saw one where the ad said 60 bhp but in the description the guy said it was a 16v!

the main titles of the ads are automatically generated when u put in the vehicle reg so i dont know who is telling the truth.

also ive been under the impression that all match editions dont have the 1.4 logo on the back and all the non match ones do have a 1.4 badge. i dont know if thats correct because this car iv seen doesnt have the 1.4 badge.

iv told him to find out and he said he is going to ask the garage to check for him. im gonna ask him to just take a peek under the bonnet before we go and see the car and i cant ask him to check the engine code as iw ill odubt he will kno where it is, but it should definatly say 16v on the cover right?

last thing :P where is the engine code situated? there was a pic on this forum but i cant find iot anymore. and is the code for the 75 bhp model AUA?

if someone can clear as much of this up as possible by tonight, it will be much appretiated!

cheers :D

Its located on the left hand side of the engine. Its down the side of a bar code if I remember correctly. Cant remember my engine code sry but I did a search on the internet to find out the different engine codes.

Hope that little bit helps
