Lowered Suspension (Speed Bumps)

Post by Makz T »

This may sound so stupid but i was wondering if anyone could help me. .. I share a polo 6n2 with my sister, i really wanna get it lowered but she always goes on about speed bumps! Obviously you would have to drive slow when approaching them but is having your car lowered a good thing in the long term? (would you have alot of problems if you got your car lowered?)

Hope you can get back to me as soon as possible. Cheers

Mak :)

Correct me if I'm wrong anyone else who posts here

But I don't think it should affect you. Yeah, you would obviously have to drive slow when approaching speed bumps, and you might perhaps feel a little jolt when driving over one but like I said, I don't think it should I affect you. Thats just my opinion.

Hope that helps.

It Depends how much you want to lower it really. 30mm is unlikely to cause many problems. Where as 80mm is very likely to scrape speed bumps. When lowering your car, its about finding a hieght thats suits you. If your worried about speed bumps, i wouldnt go much lower than 40mm. Then again you may want to lower it more after this as many people find its not low enough. :D

as it happens i have one of the 6n2 polos and i got 15" alloys on it and its lowered 30mm. i dont have n e problems witht n e speed bumps or multi story car parks. its not that low, but like u, when i decided to lower it i didnt know how low to go so i thought id go for 30mm to be safe. it still looks pretty good.... front could deffo be lower tho.

when i put the splitter ont he front of my car then i might get probs but i'll worry abotu it at the time.

so in answer to ur query, if its just springs ur changing, 30mm doesnt affect it but u do feel bumps and dips and stuff in roads more...... one of the reasons i wanna get coilies and to lower it more........ unless i get airbag suspension..........

Wow! lol, dat was quick responses. They were all very helpful. If i can PERSUADE my sister im not going to go any lower than 40mm if thats about right? If you feel that the front could be lower slightly i may than lower it to 40mm at de front.

Thank for all your replies and help though, it has been good advice all round. Cheers!! :o
