Hey
I desperately need help
Just replacing water pump, on my 1043 genesis, and having problems removing crack pulley, the one that drives the alternator,
Removed the four bolts, loosedned the belt, lowered engine mount, and still there is no room against the inner wing to remove it.
With out this i can not remove the plastic cover, or the pump.
IM running out of patience
any help appreciated

Water Pump Refit - CRANK PULLEY REMOVAL
I know its an old thread!!!!
Just thought it might help someone else out if I replied
Having changed the cam belt last weekend on my sons 1272 coupe experienced the same problem
No bloody room to get the bottom crank pulley off
Solution
Jack placed under the engine
Remove the top engine mount/alternator bracket
Drop the engine an inch or two
And off with the pulley and bottom cover

interesting way to do it! makes sense though! i've done a couple now! we undid the alternator engine mount and the gearbox mount and edged the engine across a little! its such a tight fit! why they never made that gap any bigger is beyond me! i found it harder to do on my 1043cc coupe compared to the twin belted G40!
I just got notified of this from ages ago!!
Yeh my old man helped me tackle the problem, we jacked up the engine as described, worked a treat, not much hassle at all when you know you got to do it.
But looking at it, not knowing, and having done so many cam belts on other cars, you think, ehhhhhhh!!!!!!
cheers anyway
now polo has recently developed a nice rattle at idle......
