My G40 progress thread

Post by olop_chris »

Well...Lets begin shall we?

Firstly i removed the Eyebrow grille as it wasn't to my taste.

I was curious to what condition the air filter was in, so i had a look:

Not too great, so gave that a clean (not changing as i'll get my jabbasport soon enough)

I also re-sprayed the rear G40 badge that had probably seen better days previously!:

Also decided to take off the red stripe from around the bumpers (didn't want to over do the red too much)

Also took out the cassette holder in the dash to make way for another cubby hole!

And that's it for now:

Near future plans:

Awaiting my debaged front grille
Awaiting my aero wipers
Awaiting my german plates

Future plans:

40mm drop possibly
some kind of wheels (not decided yet)
Strip the rear (smartly)
Rear upper brace + Front upper brace
de-cat exhaust

Distant future:

full blend charger with smaller pully
jabbasport induction kit

plans sound good chris!!
couple of points i'd like to make tho:

1. the red strip round the bumpers came as standard on the g40 bumpers (i woulda kept that imo)

2. be careful with that front and rear g40 badges, they are not made anymore iirc and are very desireable to people that have lost theirs! i've seen the rears sold on ebay for like £60!! Doug has managed to get 2 and only puts them on for shows (he runs a standard polo babge at all other times!)

keep us posted tho mate, will be weird to see the gti go, make sure it goes to a good home!

Hey dan, cheers for the info! and yeah I'm quite wary about the G40 badge...but no-one round my area will know what a G40 is lol. I have a backup that i was thinking of putting on in place of it soon anyways.

I sprayed this one up too, will be a stealth fighter again :)

look 10 times better without the eyebrow spoiler :D

I must admit i've always loved the rear end view of a clean red g40 with late spec rear lights 8)

Yup you have.

Liking the removal of the brow spoiler & the painted badges. Not too keen on the bumpers without the red tape - but then it's your car now!!! 8)

Keep us updated on any progress!

Lol, I don't know about that! There's now 2 G40's and a GT within quarter of a mile of each other! (yours, Shaun's and mine :))

Really nice looking motor matey, I stopped and had a quick nose at about 8.30 this morning. I like it!

Nah I've got the black one!

Thats a point, there's a blue GT just around the corner from Shaun's isn't there!? That makes it 2 GT's and 2 G40's within quarter of a mile :D
